Regrouping between the parish and the village

Fusion le 22 mars 2006
Finally an agreement!
In August 2005, the Village and Parish have agreed to put in place a temporary committee in order to work on the fusion of the two Cacouna. This new committee which has been approved by 90% of the population will consist of Mr. Michaud as Mayor, Deputy Mayor Mr. D'amour and 6 counsellors (3 from each previous administration).
This transition committee will be for a duration of 2 years starting 01 January 2006. Their goal will be to work towards a formal fusion between the two municipalities.
History - if we believe what people say, it is following a feud about wooden sidewalks that the village and the parish separated 146 years ago. So in order to provide an administration which is closest to their own people needs, on 01 January 1869 the two municipalities were created.
A bit of history!
If one believes what people are saying, it would be following a quibbling about woodden sidewalks that the community divided 146 years ago.
To ensure the Parish and to the Village would get an administration more aware of their problems, on January 01, 1869 was created the township of the village of Saint-Georges of Cacouna.
Each, would have their Mayor henceforth! See the list of past Mayors
